Renovating a home is never a straightforward task. Between suppliers, installers, and unexpected setbacks, the process can quickly shift from exciting to frustrating. This post marks the beginning of my renovation blog series, where I’ll share the real challenges and victories I’ve experienced while transforming my home.

A Rough Start with Koçtaş

The journey began with what should have been a simple purchase: bathroom cabinets and installation service from Koçtaş. Instead of smooth delivery and quick assembly, I found myself waiting endlessly, with repeated promises and no real action. What should have been straightforward turned into delays and wasted energy. This was my first lesson — depending too much on outside services can easily derail your progress.

Roomart Made the Difference

Thankfully, Roomart, the manufacturer, offered a much better experience. Their packaging was solid, the parts were reliable, and communication was clear. Compared to Koçtaş’s endless delays, Roomart stood out as the dependable partner in the process, giving me confidence to continue.

When the Installer Quit

After the products were in place, I called in an installer. He took one quick look at the plumbing and simply said: “This can’t be installed here.” No alternatives, no effort — just refusal. That was the breaking point. I realized if I wanted things to move forward, I would have to step in myself.

Why I Chose Einhell Tools

At this point, I knew I needed the right equipment. I invested in an Einhell drill, a rasp tool, and a jigsaw (dekupaj). I chose Einhell because it strikes the right balance of affordability, durability, and practicality. These tools are designed with DIY enthusiasts in mind, but they’re strong enough to handle tougher tasks as well. For me, it was important to have reliable equipment without overspending on professional-grade brands. Einhell gave me the confidence and capability to take matters into my own hands.

Taking Control – My DIY Approach

Instead of waiting for another so-called professional, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I began with the washing machine cabinet, carefully assembling it piece by piece until it stood sturdy and ready for use. The sense of progress was immediate.

The real challenge came with the sink base cabinet. The plumbing didn’t align with the back panel, which is exactly where most installers stop. I refused to. With careful measurements, I marked the correct spots and cut precise openings for the water inlets and drain. It was messy, dusty, and time-consuming — but in the end, everything fit perfectly. The cabinet stood strong, and the plumbing remained accessible.

Looking Back

What started as a series of setbacks became a moment of personal achievement. Instead of giving in to delays and excuses, I trusted my own patience and effort. With the right tools and determination, I turned a potential renovation nightmare into a success.

This is just the first stage of my renovation journey. Next time, I’ll dive into the following steps of turning this space into a modern, fully functional home.

Lesson learned: if you want it done right, sometimes you really do have to do it yourself.
